Gummy bears surely evoke childhood memories for many people, with their squeezable little candies and taste its chewy sweetness. However, do you know when the first gummy bear was born?

The history of gummy bears spans 100 years. Originated in Germany, the first company to produce them was Haribo. Hans Riegel, the founder of Haribo, invented his first bear-shaped candy made of gummy in 1922!

Gummy bears come in five flavours: strawberry, lemon, orange, pineapple, and raspberry. When we buy a bag of gummy bears, it comes with various colours. But, oddly enough, there is a green coloured gummy bear in the mix! So, what’s the flavour of the green ones? While we may not typically associate that flavour with green colour, let me reveal the answer to you – it’s strawberry! What a surprise!

Another amusing story of gummy bears is that they actually had their very own cartoon! Disney launched a cartoon “The Adventures of the Gummi Bears”, which debuted in 1985.
