Eligibility
- Have completed at least one year of full-time study in a Government-funded undergraduate programme at HKBU before exchange study;
- Obtain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (cGPA) at the time of application AND in the first semester of 2021/22 after your application for the student programme;
- Possess a minimum score required in one of the following English proficiency tests:
- IELTS (Academic) of 6.0; or
- TOEFL (iBT) of 79
- Have your Head of Department/Programme Director’s endorsement on your application.
Easy Steps to Apply
Step 1
Find out from the above list of Exchange Destinations where you can go for exchange studies.
Step 2
Check if you have a valid TOEFL or IELTS test score (valid two years from the test date). If not, take the IELTS (Academic) or TOEFL on or before 31 May 2021. Tests taken after the deadline will NOT be considered.

Step 3
Visit the International Office for enquiries, institutions' information and financial supports, etc.
Step 4
Consult International Office, your departmental exchange coordinator and/or academic advisor for any specific application schedule and procedures, credit transfer and academic related matters.
Step 5
Submit your online application ON/BEFORE 31 May 2021 (11:59 p.m.).
- Upload the the TOEFL or IELTS (Academic) score report OR your TOEFL or IELTS (Academic) test registration confirmation.
Step 6
Selections for exchange placement will adopt a merit-based approach and be based on your (i) cGPA, (ii) TOEFL/IELTS Score, (iii) extra- and/or co-curricular activities, (iv) personal statement, and (v) availability of places at exchange partner institutions.
Financial Assistance
- Every student accepted to participate in the Student Exchange Programme is eligible to receive a HKBU Exchange Sponsorship, ranging from HK$9,000 - HK$20,000 depending on the destination of his/her exchange.

Notes
- Application period is 7 April (9:00 a.m.) to 31 May (11:59 p.m.) in 2021.
- Read carefully and follow all steps of Online Application.
- Late applications or incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
- Once your application is submitted, NO change of destinations AND/OR the duration of exchange period will be allowed.
- The International Office will forward your application to your Head of Department/Programme Director for endorsement. Only applications with endorsement (and meeting the eligibility criteria) will be offered a place at a particular host institution.
- You should benefit from the Student Exchange Programme once during your studies at HKBU.
- Only credit-bearing exchange activities (including studies, internships and job attachments) will be sponsored under the Student Exchange Programme.
- You MUST resume studies at HKBU after the exchange programme.
- You should at all times maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from participating in the Student Exchange Programme.
- This special one-time offer is open for students who do not already have an exchange offer in hand for the 2021/22 academic year.
