A. HKBU Summer Programme Sponsorship

Steps to Apply
Complete the registration form (INTL --> Summer Abroad 2024 Registration Form) and submit the confirmation of enrollment/admission letter issued by the host institution at least 3 weeks prior to the commencement of the summer programme:
Late or incomplete applications will NOT be accepted or processed.
Notes
- Students must have attained a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above at the time of application and at the conclusion of the semester prior to the beginning of the summer programme.
- Students who participated in any summer programme administered by the International Office in previous years are NOT eligible to apply for the summer programme sponsorship.
- Students must fulfill the study load as required by the host institutions.
- Students can only apply the Summer Programme Sponsorship for ONE summer programme.
- Students can only receive the Summer Programme Sponsorship ONCE during their University studies.
- Students must successfully complete programmes offered by HKBU partner institutions that last for at least 14 days and pass the enrolled course(s).
- Students who fail to complete the summer programme or withdraw from the University are required to repay their sponsorship immediately.
- Students may receive the Summer Programme Sponsorship in addition to any financial assistance given by other offices/departments and/or the government.
B. HKBU Summer Programme Scholarship
Scholarships are awarded to selected students on a competitive basis and subject to the availability of funds.

Selection Criteria
- Excellent scholastic ability (cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above at the time of application and at the conclusion of the semester prior to the beginning of the summer programme).
- Successful completion (passing all enrolled courses) of a credit-bearing summer programmes of at least 4 weeks.
- Priority given to students (i) in their final year of studies, (ii) have difficulties in participating in regular exchange abroad, and/or (iii) with demonstrated financial need.
Notes
Students can only receive the Summer Programme Scholarship ONCE during their studies at HKBU.
C. EDB Subsidy Schemes for Exchange Activities
HKBU students may apply for the following subsidies from the Education Bureau (EDB) to participate in summer programmes offered by HKBU partner institutions that last for at least 14 days. Please refer to the webpage for EDB Subsidy Schemes for disbursement details.
- Scheme for Subsidy on Exchange for Post-secondary Students (Means-tested SSE)
- Scheme for Means-tested Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for Post-secondary Students (Means-tested SSEBR)
- Non-means-tested Mainland Experience Scheme for Post-secondary Students (Non-means-tested MES)
- Scheme for Non-means-tested Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for Post-secondary Students (Non-means-tested SSEBR)
Disbursement of Funds
Submit the following items for disbursement of financial assistance (subject to eligibility requirements and availability of funds) to the International Office within one month of your successful completion of the programme via https://hkbu.questionpro.com/t/AWEXVZ1JEX:
- Summer Exchange Evaluation form (https://hkbu.questionpro.com/t/AWEXVZ1JEU)
- Form of Undertaking for Receiving HKBU Summer Abroad Sponsorship/Scholarship
- A copy of Admission Letter issued by your host university
- An official transcript (original or certified true copy) and/or a certificate of completion issued by the host institution
No disbursement will be processed if you submit the required items after 15 September 2024.
Payment
- Funds will be credited directly into your bank account approximately 6-8 weeks after the respective submission deadlines — 15 August and 15 September. You will be informed via email by Finance Office once the autopay is arranged.
- Failure to update/input your bank account details in BUniPort, submit the required documentary proofs or miss the submission deadlines may cause delay in the funds disbursement.
Notes
- All applications are processed subject to the availability of funds. In the event that the funding sources no longer have funds available when you submit an application, your application will not be approved regardless of whether you fulfill the eligibility requirements for claiming a fund.
- Students eligible for EDB Subsidy must forward their applications to INTL in one submission together with the Sponsorship/Scholarship disbursement application. Separate submission will not be entertained.
D. HKBU First-Generation University Student Fund (FGF)

E. Sponsorship offered by the Language Centre (Intercultural Immersive Exchange Programme)
Applications for the third round will be accepted until May 12, 2024.
