ESP: Cultural Immersion That Lasts a Lifetime!
During my time in Zhuhai, I fully immersed myself in a new cultural environment, forming meaningful connections with both Mainland and international students that broadened my global outlook and deepened my appreciation for diverse perspectives.
ESP also offered incredible opportunities to explore different cities, including a trip to Kashgar and Xinjiang. We explored traditional Tajik culture, visited a mosque that beautifully blended Chinese and Muslim architechtural, and bonded with other students through cultural activities. The warmth of the local people—welcoming us into their homes, shared meals, and dancing with us—made a lasting impression.

Academic Growth and Warm Welcomes at BNBU
Before studying at BNBU, I was worried I would not fit in — but everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming! I joined a football team and we proudly won third place! More important than the victory was the fun we had and the friendships I made.
The professors were approachable and supportive, and the smaller class sizes compared to HKBU made it much easier to communicate and ask questions. The open and friendly classroom environment encouraged active participation, helping me grasp concepts more clearly and boosting my confidence in my studies.

Creating Beyond the Classroom: A Theatrical Journey at BNBU
One of the highlights of my exchange at BNBU was taking Dramatic Words: Theatre & Performance, where I helped organize a full theatrical production. I was nervous at first—acting and voice projection weren’t my strengths—but ESP gave me the freedom to try something new without worrying about grades.
The experience was incredibly rewarding. I gained confidence, worked with talented classmates, and discovered my passion for stage, set, and lighting design.
ESP gave me the freedom to grow, explore new skills, and learn in a supportive environment. It’s an experience I’ll always treasure—and one I’d recommend to anyone ready to step outside their comfort zone.

My ESP Journey Toward Global Citizenship
Joining the ESP was a turning point for me. I started out shy and afraid of making mistakes, but the supportive environment helped me grow. I came to understand that mistakes aren’t failures—they’re part of learning.
This experience reshaped how I see the world: as a place full of opportunities and kind-hearted people. I’ve become more confident in my communication and adaptability, especially in unfamiliar or multilingual settings.
Returning to HKBU, I bring back not only academic knowledge but also a renewed ambition to grow as a global citizen—ready to learn, explore, and contribute to an interconnected world.
