Insurance

As an incoming exchange student at HKBU, it's essential to ensure you have adequate insurance coverage before arriving in Hong Kong. This includes medical and accident insurance with provisions for emergency evacuation, rescuer's expenses, and repatriation. If you plan to travel outside Hong Kong, please make sure your insurance policy covers those destinations as well. Additionally, please verify that your current health insurance policy covers you while studying abroad before you come. You should check with your parents about the coverage before coming to Hong Kong.

HKBU offers an insurance plan that students can opt into, but it primarily covers incidents that occur during HKBU-related activities. For any personal travel within or outside Hong Kong, additional insurance coverage is necessary, as the HKBU insurance does not cover personal travel.

Insurance Guidelines:

  • Arrange your own accident and sickness insurance for the entire duration of your studies in Hong Kong.
  • Ensure your coverage includes emergency evacuation, rescuer's expenses, and repatriation.
  • Verify that your insurance policy covers travel outside Hong Kong if you plan to visit other destinations.
  • Please verify if your current health insurance policy covers you while studying abroad.

If you would like to apply for HKBU insurance, you can find more details here and download the application form here. Please note that HKBU insurance does not cover personal travel, so make sure you have sufficient coverage for any trips you plan to take during your free time.
